3 Reasons Why You’re Awesome

You’re awesome.

Maybe you don’t consider yourself awesome now, but you’re awesome because you have the ability to become awesome.

Did that make sense? Or did it come off all abstract and new-age-y? I’m trying to be clear and direct here.

I’ve got 3 reasons why you’re awesome. I even tried to make them clever. Which now guarantees that they most certainly won’t be.

Anyway, here are 3 reasons why you’re awesome – even if you think you aren’t:

1. You’re Like LEGOs

Don’t like something? You have the ability to change.

Relationships, location, work, creativity – you name it, you can change it.

It’s like with LEGOs. When you don’t like what you have, you disassemble and build what you do want. It could be changing a few things or starting from scratch.

Your life is like LEGOs. You can change to what you want, anytime.

No one can stop you from changing – physically or psychologically. Only you can let outside forces hold you back. So don’t stop yourself from changing: give yourself permission to be awesome.

Change isn’t easy sometimes. The worthwhile changes usually aren’t. But they’re worth it. And you have the ability to do them.

For example, I used to be shy. But I wanted to meet new people easily. At first, I just accepted my shyness. It’s who I am, what could I do? However, I got more and more fed up with it. I started picturing myself walking up to strangers and starting conversations. I imagined strangers as friends I simply haven’t talked to yet.

And then I started doing it. I gave myself permission to not be shy.

It was awkward at first. But the change was set in motion. The more I forced myself to start conversations with strangers, the easier it became to meet new people. I found that if I assumed the other person was gonna like me—they were a friend I just haven’t met yet, after all—it gave me confidence to change.

Now, the shyness is gone. I changed myself into something I like.

I rebuilt a LEGO fort into a space castle.

2. You’re Like the Sun

You can create value.

Enormous amounts. Even if you don’t know you’re creating value, because you’re having a blast doing what you do.

Sort of how the sun just shines, doing her own thing. She loves what she does (just ask her). But boy, how much value comes from the sun.

Light. Warmth. Food. Life.

You have the ability to go out and create, instead of just lying there*. To love what you do, but be able to over-deliver value to others.

I loved writing this article. Tons of fun. And I hope you’re able to get some value from it too – whether for inspiration, practical purposes, or entertainment.

*Unless you devise a way to create awesome stuff just by lying down. In which case, please let me know how immediately.

3. You’re Like a Puppy

You can make life more enjoyable for yourself and others.

And you can do it without thinking about it.

You get excited about something, which makes your life happier. And your positive energy improves the mood of those around you.

Just like a puppy. He pursues what he gets excited by, and his life becomes more enjoyable.

The sunlight moved during the nap? He walks over and resumes snoozing. Needs some fresh air and exercise? Goes outside. Tired? Goes back inside.

And a puppy is the life of the party. He’s excited by new people and is affectionate to everyone there. Which makes everyone feel better.

You’re not like a cat, which hisses and hides (apologies to cat lovers, but it’s true).

I get excited by great music. It makes my life better. And when I share catchy and emotionally-hitting tunes with others, they say their day becomes better too.

Or pursuing location-independent living and doing entrepreneurial things. I get excited at the possibilities as I work to achieve them, and when I talk with others about this stuff, their eyes open wide with new ideas and ways of living.

You’re Awesome

Already awesome? Keep rockin’ it. Be even more awesome. Inspire others to rock it.

Don’t think you’re awesome? Realize you’re awesome because you have the ability to become awesome. Give yourself permission to be awesome and go become it.

Be like the LEGOs.
